The basic premise of EIM is that information is a strategic enterprise asset that should be managed for effective use and protection. Like any enterprise level program, a fully functional competency in EIM takes time to implement and looks daunting at the beginning. That is why it is so important to get started on the right foot, by breaking the effort into meaningful pieces that can be implemented relatively quickly and prove value at each step. This is Netra’s pragmatic approach to EIM. We will leverage our templates and best practices from our EIM Framework to help you properly plan and position your EIM program for success in your organization.

Netra’s Strategic and Advisory Services for EIM include assessments, strategy & roadmaps, business cases, socialization and education, center of excellence (COE) formation, best practices / methodology guidance, and technology recommendations. We can also help you plan and implement specific EIM components in support of major enterprise initiatives, such as ERP implementations, Master Data Management (MDM), Data Warehousing, or other enterprise-level solutions and transformations.

  • Strategy and Roadmap: This is where many organizations start when considering an EIM program or planning for EIM in support of a major initiative. The strategy & roadmap may focus on implementing specific EIM components in support of a particular initiative, such as a data warehouse, master data management, or ERP implementation, or the objective may be to establish an EIM program for the organization.

The purpose of the Strategy and Roadmap is to define the EIM components, implementation steps, and sustained processes needed to satisfy the objectives of the business requirement. To achieve this, we need to gain an understanding and consensus of key business objectives, issues, and information requirements. The strategy is driven by business objectives, and defines the technology and processes required to meet those objectives. The roadmap will outline recommended steps for implementing the strategy. The roadmap is driven by the organization’s specific business objectives and prioritized by the business value they bring vs. the level of effort required to deliver them and dependencies that may impact the sequence of implementation. Benefits include:

  • Developing a consensus of business objectives, including key issues and opportunities
  • Identifying information requirements to resolve issues and/or address opportunities
  • Identifying the organizational processes and technology requirements
  • Defining the initial implementation steps for the identified EIM focus areas
  • Aligning EIM activities with current enterprise processes to improve maturity

  • Business Case: In a world of tight budgets, justifying an expensive technology solution is a given. From clearly defining the solution to address business needs, to estimating realization and maintenance costs, the Netra team will identify tangible and soft benefits to develop estimates at the level of detail required for a well-informed decision.

  • Technology Recommendations: Successful implementation of EIM initiatives typically requires application of multiple tools and technologies; from Data Discovery and Profiling, Data Cleansing, and Data Integration, to Data Modeling, Data Delivery, and Metadata Management. Making the right technology decisions can make the difference between success and failure. Netra consultants have hands-on experience in all major tools and technologies in the market today. With a wider acceptance in recent years, it is also critical to consider the potential of SaaS, cloud-based, and open source solutions. With knowledge of capabilities and limitations in diverse environments, our recommendations are always tailored to our clients’ specific information management requirements.

  • Data Governance Program Guidance: Our Data Governance Program Guidance advisory services are aimed at establishing robust, reusable processes for planning requirements (resources, scalable architecture, and best practice processes) of EIM initiatives, such as Business Intelligence, Data Warehouse, and Master Data Management solutions. The objective is to build a base for realizing short-term goals with architecture and sustainable processes for long-term success.
